Our take on Overmorrow
The game replaces the usual permanent-save structure with a 30-day cycle that deletes progress at its end. Resting becomes a meaningful trade-off: it restores Runes while advancing the calendar and narrative, making expiration part of the exploration mystery rather than a simple failure state.
What is Overmorrow?
Explore a mysterious island in a nonviolent, fixed-camera 2D adventure built around unguided discovery and broad puzzle solving.
Each screen presents distinct artwork and hidden details. Finding Runes increases the number of actions available during each in-game day, allowing deeper travel across the island. Resting restores spent Runes but advances both the day counter and the narrative. The game has no daily time limit, but reaching the 30th in-game day deletes the save. This unusual structure is tied to the game’s metanarrative and forms part of its mystery. Progress therefore combines environmental exploration, resource management, resting, and uncovering the significance of the island’s changing story.
How Overmorrow plays
- 01Rune-Based Actions
- Discovering Runes raises the number of actions available within a single in-game day.
- 02Save Deletion
- The current save is removed after 30 in-game days.
- 03Unguided Exploration
- The island is explored without a stated guidance system, with secrets distributed across individual screens.
- 04Resting System
- Restoring exhausted Runes also advances the day count and narrative.
Overmorrow compared to similar games
Jusant combines action-puzzle climbing with a meditative ascent, stamina management, and multiple routes up a tower. Overmorrow instead centers on unguided island exploration, Rune-limited daily actions, broad puzzles, and a 30-day save-deletion structure. The two share exploration and puzzle-solving, but use different movement and progression systems.
