Is Ostrich Island worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Adventure players who want exploration mixed with collectibles and character progression
- Co-op pairs who enjoy helping or interfering with one another during exploration
- Creative players who want to make and share islands or ostrich skins
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly focused adventure may find the many collectibles, secrets, and side activities distracting
- Players wanting the same challenge throughout may bounce off the separate, more difficult Game+ mode
- Players who do not want to create, download, or browse community-made content may have little use for the Workshop
Our take on Ostrich Island
The bounce point arrives at the Workshop layer: players who only want a fixed exploration campaign may stop when island and skin creation, sharing, and downloading become part of the available experience. Those seeking a solo-only journey may also hit friction in the two-player mode's score-stealing interactions.
What is Ostrich Island?
Ostrich Island combines exploration, adventure, and RPG progression across tropical islands, stormy areas, ocean depths, and underground spaces.
The ostrich character earns experience, levels up, and gains skills and abilities while finding achievements, collectibles, bonuses, hats, and hidden islands. Activities include taking photos, catching butterflies, kicking objects, and caring for chicken companions that can be bred and fed. A Nest area displays discovered items and family stories. Cooperative play lets two friends assist or interfere with one another, including taking score points. After completing the game, a more challenging Game+ mode becomes available. Workshop tools support creating ostrich skins and islands, sharing them with the community, and downloading content made by other players.
