Our take on Once a Tale
Rather than centering on combat or character statistics, this adventure replaces those genre conventions with cooperative puzzle work between Hansel and Gretel. Its fairy-tale setting is presented as a handcrafted stop-motion world, making the physical construction of the environments part of the genre departure.
What is Once a Tale?
Guide Hansel and Gretel through a single-player, third-person narrative adventure inspired by fairy tales including Hansel and Gretel and The Three Little Pigs.
The siblings search for a way home after being abandoned, travelling through forests inhabited by wolves and other reimagined characters. Exploration takes place in a handcrafted world built from wood, cardboard, foam, and clay, presented in a stop-motion style with cinematic camera angles. Puzzles require both characters to work together, using their separate abilities to lift, climb, pull, and push objects. Along the journey, the children meet characters who may assist or threaten them, uncover mysteries, face trials, and develop skills connected to the secrets of the land.
