Our take on Night of the Scarecrows
The defining constraint is scarce ammunition: combat revolves around waiting for grouped enemies and making each shot count, including the danger of a rocket's own impact.
What is Night of the Scarecrows?
This first-person arena shooter places the player in an isolated East-European countryside surrounded by faceless scarecrows.
Ammunition is limited, health does not regenerate, and there are no radar displays, screen hints, or assisted navigation. Quick Death turns combat into a resource puzzle, requiring careful shots that can hit multiple enemies. Barn Massacre confines the player in a small barn against hundreds of scarecrows, while Gas Tower Defence focuses on protecting a sniping position with rifles. Enemy types include deadly, ugly, and almost invincible creatures, and defeated scarecrows use a decomposition system. The game also includes global leader tables, a retro setting, and a sign-of-the-cross action.
How Night of the Scarecrows plays
- 01Three Game Modes
- Quick Death, Barn Massacre, and Gas Tower Defence present different combat setups, including limited-ammo fights and protecting a sniping position.
- 02Limited Ammunition
- Quick Death requires shot planning because one blast can be used to hit at least two enemies.
- 03Enemy Decomposition
- Defeated scarecrows are represented through a decomposition system.
- 04Global Leaderboards
- Scores can be compared through worldwide ranking tables.
