Our take on Nandeyanen!? - The 1st Sûtra
Rather than relying on power-ups to change the player's weapon, this shoot'em up centers progression on reading bullet patterns, returning attacks, and timing violet beams. Its counter system replaces the genre's usual dodge-and-fire rhythm with deliberate confrontations against incoming projectiles.
What is Nandeyanen!? - The 1st Sûtra?
Nandeyanen!?
– The 1st Sûtra is a side-scrolling shooter featuring Tenguman, a long-nosed goblin who awakens from a millennium of sleep to face supernatural pranksters. The campaign has three areas: Mountain, Forest, and Temple. A counter system lets players redirect enemy projectiles, while three Mini-Tengu allies can be called in to emit violet beams. Tenguman can also form an aura that makes selected bullets counterable. Bombs lure shots away and briefly grant invulnerability, but do not hurt enemies.
Different defenses call for different attacks: blue barriers yield to redirected bullets, whereas yellow barriers require violet beams. Each stage hides five Siddham items; collecting them enables a potent strike against the boss. There are no upgrade items, so the regular shot remains fixed. Text is available in English, Japanese, Korean, and French.
