Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want predictable results may hit a wall when routine tasks can cause sudden death.
- Players who dislike repeating survival runs may bounce off the focus on lasting as long as possible under changing risks.
- Players looking for combat or exploration may find the focus on daily decisions, hygiene, work, and finances too narrow.
Our take on Mischance
The first sticking point is the random risk: ordinary tasks can end a run, so players expecting dependable results may bounce off early. Nightly food or tax deductions create a second pressure point when limited money must cover survival-related spending.
What is Mischance?
Mischance is a survival game about lasting as long as possible under a curse that makes everyday activities more likely to cause death.
Each task has a random chance of a fatal outcome, with some tasks carrying greater risk. At the start of each run, choose from 3 cards that reduce the chance of certain types of death. Events offer choices that may help or backfire; some outcomes vary randomly, while others have one correct answer. Health declines without regular hygiene. Choose how to travel to work or skip it, then manage limited money for appliances and nightly food or tax expenses. Each new day can bring further scenarios or problems.
How Mischance plays

- 04Hygiene and health
- Health gradually declines when hygiene is neglected, including when hands are not washed regularly.
- 05Commute decisions
