We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Visual novel fans who want branching dialogue and consequential choices
- Point-and-click adventure players who prefer story-led exploration over combat
- Occult-fiction fans who want a short magical training narrative
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat, extensive exploration, or a large open-ended adventure may find the point-and-click structure narrow.
- Players who want one fixed storyline may not enjoy revisiting choices and dealing with ending variations.
- Players looking for action-focused gameplay may bounce off the dialogue and story-centered progression.
Our take on Mesmalie
The bounce point arrives when the game shifts from its opening magical incident into dialogue-led training at the coven. Players expecting combat or broad exploration may hit the wall there, while the three varied sessions and chapter selection suit those interested in revisiting story beats.
What is Mesmalie?
Mesmalie is an occult adventure game presented as a visual novel with point-and-click interaction.
After a fire linked to uncontrolled magic, the protagonist travels to an isolated witches’ coven and begins training under Mesmer. The narrative branches through dialogue and consequential decisions. Three training sessions use different gameplay styles, while interactive objects provide places to practice magic. Chapter selection allows specific story sections to be revisited, and abandoning the story partway can lead to different endings. The game also includes secrets and an original soundtrack. Its story centers on learning to control magical abilities while dealing with setbacks during the protagonist’s time at the coven.
