Our take on Merger 3D
Instead of following newer shooter structures, Merger 3D returns to long levels, dense enemy crowds, boss encounters, and visuals modeled on early first-person shooters. Its genre departure is a revival of an older format rather than a new gameplay framework.
What is Merger 3D?
Set in 2048, Merger 3D follows a mercenary sent to destroy a jungle base where scientists combine plant and human cells in the Confluence project.
The project goes out of control and begins taking over its surroundings, while an army of bio-soldiers guards the facility. Gameplay draws from classic first-person shooters, with 15 long levels containing many crowds of enemies, each led by an unusual boss. Players use an arsenal of weapons with distinct characteristics while advancing toward the project’s epicenter. The game uses a graphical style similar to Wolfenstein 3D and a color palette taken from Operation Bodycount. Musical arrangements are by Jimmy.
