Our take on LUCKROT
Rather than keeping progression separate from presentation, LUCKROT makes the run a public broadcast shaped by viewers, donations, taxes, and wagers. Its world is reduced to the HUB and Arena, replacing a broader journey with a staged performance built around combat and death.
What is LUCKROT?
LUCKROT is a roguelike gun game set within a bleak contest broadcast live to viewers.
The player battles waves of mutated foes and navigates hazardous arena rooms, moving toward increasingly prominent boss encounters and eventual death. Progress through each room leads to the HUB, where part of the performer’s earnings is taken as tax and the rest can be wagered on weapon or ability improvements. The game is divided between two areas: the HUB and the Arena. Audience donations generate income during each performance. When the character dies, another participant immediately takes their place in the show.
How LUCKROT plays
- 01Room-Based Combat
- Clearing each room advances the character toward boss encounters in the arena.
- 02Gamble-Funded Upgrades
- Earnings can be wagered in the HUB for a new weapon or ability upgrade.
- 03Audience Donations
- Viewers provide donations while watching the character’s performance.
- 04Two-Area Structure
- The game divides its setting between the combat-focused Arena and the upgrade-focused HUB.
LUCKROT compared to similar games
LUCKROT combines roguelike shooting with a livestreamed gameshow structure, where donations and wagers connect combat to weapon and ability upgrades. Abyssus also combines shooting with roguelite progression, but its description emphasizes multiplayer action, hand-crafted levels, brine-powered weapons, and refitting equipment with ancient technologies.
