Our take on Lazy Chess
Instead of presenting the full set of legal moves, this chess game narrows each turn to a few engine-selected options. The strongest option stays undisclosed until a move is confirmed, making the choice itself part of the play. Challenge Mode also uses famous-game openings as starting points.
What is Lazy Chess?
Lazy Chess limits each turn to a small selection of engine-analyzed moves, so players choose without being told which option is strongest until after confirming.
The board follows standard chess rules, including options such as castling when available. Play against an AI opponent, online with friends or strangers, or locally with another person. Settings and variants can add random moves, adjust Stockfish analysis depth, or show a real-time advantage tracker. Challenge Mode starts from openings used in famous games and lets players continue from there. After a game, players can copy its PGN for external analysis. The game also offers options for players seeking a different level of challenge.
How Lazy Chess plays
- 01Limited move selection
- Stockfish analyzes the board and withholds which offered move it considers strongest until the choice is confirmed.
- 02Multiple play modes
- Games can be played against AI, online with friends or strangers, or locally with another person.
- 03Challenge Mode
- Players continue from openings taken from famous chess games.
- 04Game analysis export
- A completed game's PGN can be copied for analysis outside the game.
