Players expecting combat or conventional RPG systems may bounce off when the expedition shifts into visual-novel storytelling. The likely sticking point is the emphasis on the group’s tensions, the temple mystery, and narrative choices.
What is Last Threshold?
Set in 1962, this visual novel follows Wiktor Staszewski and his mentor on an expedition into Siberia.
They trace the work of Wiktor’s deceased father, a researcher exiled to Siberia, whose fixation was linked to ruins concealed beneath the ice. The expedition team includes people with differing views, and tensions rise when a Siberian native joins them. As a storm drives the group into the ruins for shelter, the journey turns toward the secrets of an ancient temple, the history of the Chukchi land, and the truth surrounding Wiktor’s companions and father.
