Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a slow-paced exploration game may find the focus on platforming and acrobatics too action-oriented.
- Those looking for a combat system built around many weapons may find the shield-centered fighting narrow in scope.
- Players who do not want to collect currency and spend it at shops may dislike the progression loop.
Our take on Knights of the Road
The same returning shield handles both combat and movement: Fred can throw it at enemies, slide on it, or use it to push off enemies and projectiles.
What is Knights of the Road?
Knights of the Road is a platform adventure centered on acrobatics and finding secrets.
Fred, an outlaw, travels with Aiwa, a fairy who can become a magical shield. Use the shield to attack enemies, deflect their shots, slide for momentum and make long jumps. It can also push Fred away from enemies or projectiles to reach certain places, and some obstacles call for other uses of the shield. The story unfolds through dialogue and cut scenes as Fred and Aiwa travel through a kingdom affected by dark sorcery. Collect coins, bars, and pouches to spend in shops on armor or on sorcerers who revive Fred at safe points. The soundtrack uses 8-bit-style music with Irish folk influences.
How Knights of the Road plays

- 02Shield-assisted movement

- 03Safe-point revival
- Collected valuables can be spent on sorcerers who bring Fred back at designated safe points.
- 04Story scenes
- Dialogue and cut scenes reveal the tale of a kingdom falling under dark magic.
