Our take on Kitten'd
The short control scheme and fast pace keep the focus on quick kitten-care decisions, but leave little room for detailed management. The non-VR option also comes with a stated trade-off: some of the experience is lost, and performance may be less reliable.
What is Kitten'd?
Care for kittens across 28 levels on 4 worlds.
Keep them happy to earn points, while damage they cause costs points; spend points on upgraded tools, including an automatic food dispenser and a faster cleanup tool. Seven kitten breeds have different characteristics, and kittens eat, play, and wreck parts of the home. A sandbox mode offers a more relaxed way to look after kittens without the level-based challenge. The game uses two-button controls and is presented in VR, though it can also be played without a headset; the vendor notes that non-VR play misses a large part of the experience and may not work as well.
How Kitten'd plays
- 01Point-based upgrades
- Keeping kittens happy adds points, while their destruction subtracts them; points can buy tools such as an automatic feeder.
- 02Sandbox mode
- A relaxed option focuses on caring for kittens without the level progression.
- 03Multiple kitten breeds
- The 7 breeds have distinct characteristics.
- 04VR play
- The game can also run without a headset, though the vendor says that mode misses much of the experience and may not work as well.
