Our take on King Arthur: Legion IX
Players may hit a wall when battles require careful party composition and layered use of cover, traps, flanking, overwatch, and opportunity attacks. The resource decisions in Nova Roma can add another sticking point for anyone who wants combat without stronghold management.
What is King Arthur: Legion IX?
Lead Gaius Julius Mento, commander of an undead Roman legion, through a dark-fantasy campaign in Avalon.
The game combines turn-based tactical combat with character-focused RPG systems across 15 handcrafted missions. Manage a party of 5-6 heroes, using cover, traps, flanking, overwatch, and opportunity attacks. Six heroes can gain levels, skill points, and distinct skill trees, while loot, equipment, and crafting support party development. Outside combat, rebuild and protect Nova Roma by choosing facilities and managing scarce resources. Decisions affect both the story and gameplay, including whether Gaius restores his humanity or becomes a demon. Multiple difficulty modes range from relaxed storytelling to unforgiving battles.
