Our take on Kanon
Its branching narrative creates room for different endings, but that structure requires revisiting routes to see the story’s full range. The presentation also prioritizes text and voice acting over active gameplay, limiting interaction to choices and supported touch gestures.
What is Kanon?
Kanon is a choice-driven visual novel set in a snowy northern town.
Reader decisions shape the story and lead to multiple possible endings. The Steam edition includes updated high-definition artwork, revised CG coloring, and Japanese voice acting, with the protagonist voiced only in selected scenes. Text is available in Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese, while audio is Japanese-only. Language settings cover the in-game text, menus, and digital manual and can be changed during play. Touch controls support tablet PCs and Steam Deck. The game is Key's debut visual novel and follows a story of small miracles.
