Is INMATE: Survival worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Open-world survival players who want human and animal enemies in the same setting
- Crafting-focused players who want to build and defend a base
- Players who prefer survival games with a defined sentence and escape objective
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a story-led campaign may find the repeated survival, raiding, and resource tasks more central than narrative progression
- Players who prefer low-pressure exploration may not suit the constant demands of combat, hunting, and vital management
- Players looking for a compact survival setting may not want an open island measuring 4×4 km
Our take on INMATE: Survival
Rather than treating survival as an open-ended endurance loop, the game frames it around a prison sentence with a stated endpoint. The rescue location appears only after that term is complete, turning escape into a progression goal alongside hunting, raiding, crafting, and base defense.
What is INMATE: Survival?
INMATE: Survival is an open-world survival game set on a 4×4 km island used as a prison.
Players manage health, hunger, and thirst while fighting human prisoners and animals, including rabbits, crabs, fish, and sharks. They can hunt for food, explore the island, raid prisoner camps, take goods and weapons, and claim bases. Crafting covers weapons, structures, traps, and vehicles. Base building and defense protect supplies from other inmates. A plane drops a special-loot container each day, while additional loot can be found along the shores and in the ocean. When the sentence ends, a rescue point appears on the map, allowing escape from the island.
How INMATE: Survival plays

- 02Island Exploration
- The 4×4 km island contains prisoner camps, shore areas, and ocean locations to search.
- 03Camp Raiding
- Players can attack other prisoner camps, take their equipment, and claim their bases.
- 04Daily Airdrops
- A plane delivers a container of special loot to the island every day.
- 05Crafting And Building
- Weapons, structures, traps, vehicles, and protective bases can be created.
- 06Sentence Escape
- A rescue location appears on the map once the sentence is complete.
INMATE: Survival compared to similar games
INMATE: Survival places survival crafting on a 4×4 km prison island, combining prisoner combat, animal hunting, camp raiding, daily airdrops, and an eventual escape. Mr. Prepper centers on preparing for a nuclear-war threat by building an underground shelter, while Force of Nature covers multiple zones with exploration, gathering, mining, and weapon creation. The alternatives therefore focus on shelter preparation or broader resource exploration rather than a sentence-based island escape.
