Our take on Hover Attack
Rather than making combat depend on a single self-sufficient character, Hover Attack links the Attacker to a Carrier. The Carrier supplies ammunition but can also be hit, so protecting it becomes part of the fight. This two-unit arrangement departs from a straightforward robot shooter structure.
What is Hover Attack?
Hover Attack is a side-view robot shooter built around an Attacker and a Carrier.
The player controls an Attacker with limited ammunition and tries to destroy enemies and the target at the end of the game. Ammunition can be replenished by combining with the Carrier, but the Carrier must be kept safe because taking a certain number of hits ends the game. The Steam release includes the I/O version, the Full version, and the Ultimate Evolution version, which changes gameplay and has enhanced graphics and sound. The vendor also mentions a Construction option alongside the I/O version, without clearly identifying its form. Mods are supported. The game originated in 1984 and was later ported to various consoles.
How Hover Attack plays

- 02Three Game Versions
- The package includes the I/O version, the Full version, and the Ultimate Evolution version.
- 03Mod Support
- The game supports mods.
- 04Carrier Protection
- A certain number of hits on the Carrier ends the game, so keeping it out of danger is part of play.
