Our take on Holoception
Its defining detail is embodied third-person control: a small combat avatar mirrors the player’s head and hands while the camera frames the action from different scales and angles.
What is Holoception?
Holoception is a VR action combat arena game built around controlling a small character from third- and first-person views.
The avatar mirrors the player’s head and hand movements, while a flexible camera can rotate, snap, zoom, and switch between normal scale and a miniature puppet-world perspective. Combat uses physics, inverse-kinematics movement, and ragdolls: objects, enemies, and weapons can be grabbed, thrown, or used against other enemies. Players can trigger slow motion, block attacks, avoid bullets, double-jump, and unlock weapons, upgrades, and abilities while progressing through levels. The locomotion and controls require time to learn, and Vive Wands are not currently recommended as an input device.
How Holoception plays
- 01Embodied Avatar Control
- The playable character reproduces the player’s head and hand positions while viewed from outside the avatar.
- 02Adjustable Camera Views
- The camera supports manual rotation, snap turning, zoom, normal scale, and a miniature world perspective.
- 03Physics-Based Combat
- Enemies and objects can be grabbed, thrown, and used in attacks through physics and ragdoll interactions.
- 04Slow-Motion Combat
- A manually activated slow-motion mode can interrupt attacks and provide time to evade bullets.
- 05Weapon Progression
- Level progression adds weapons, upgrades, and abilities that open new ways to defeat enemies.
Holoception compared to similar games
Holoception centers on VR embodiment, physics-based combat, and switching between first- and third-person views. Hentai Vs Furries is a third-person shooter with quests, unlockable skins, guns, emotes, and five camera angles, while Abyssus focuses on multiplayer roguelite shooting through hand-crafted levels with weapon refitting.
