Our take on Hero's Story
The store presentation foregrounds the open world, factions, classes, and varied enemies, but gives less attention to the game's partial controller support and partly destructible environments. Those qualifications matter when the feature list is read as a broad technical and gameplay promise.
What is Hero's Story?
Hero's Story is a first-person action RPG set in Teandria, an ancient kingdom in decline.
A young mercenary must escape a dungeon and uncover what happened while traveling through regions that range from the Swamp of Myths to the Endless Desert. Exploration includes treasures, traps, secrets, quests, and enemies. Combat covers undead creatures, robbers, dryads, and large opponents in caves and crypts. Four character classes provide different ways to approach the game, while equipment supports encounters with stronger enemies. Factions compete for control of the kingdom, and the player can join an opposing side or follow an independent path. Choices affect how Teandria's inhabitants regard the protagonist. The game also includes physics, partly destructible environments, and partial controller support.

Hero's Story compared to similar games
Ghost of a Tale is also an action RPG, but centers on a mouse minstrel, stealth, disguises, conversations, and exploration in an animal-populated medieval world. Vagante offers dark-fantasy adventure with monsters, demons, and crooks, while Hero's Story focuses on first-person combat, four classes, faction choices, and a multi-region kingdom.
