Our take on Gunforged
The build system trades consistency for experimentation: randomized parts, runes, and post-wave abilities can produce unusual combinations, but they also make weapon behavior and run planning less predictable from one run to the next.
What is Gunforged?
Gunforged is a fantasy roguelite shooter built around changing weapon builds each run.
Guns use randomized parts that alter damage, fire rate, and range, while runes can change how they behave, such as adding bullet ricochets or creating effects when enemies die. After each wave, players choose from dozens of passive abilities, including lightning storms, summoned allies, and health conversions. Runs involve fighting through three arenas, facing increasingly difficult enemies, defeating six unique bosses, and extracting with gold. Extracted gold buys permanent upgrades, including increased maximum health, weapon customization options, a rocket gun, additional Prize Wheel spins, and the Loot Goblin companion.
How Gunforged plays
- 01Randomized Gun Parts
- Weapon components alter damage, firing speed, and range for each run.
- 02Behavior-Changing Runes
- Runes can add effects such as ricocheting bullets, gold-producing enemy explosions, or death-triggered pillars.
- 03Wave-Based Abilities
- Each completed wave offers a choice from dozens of passive abilities.
- 04Three Combat Arenas
- The arenas introduce increasingly difficult and distinct enemy encounters.
- 05Permanent Upgrades
- Gold taken from runs can increase health, expand weapon customization, unlock a rocket gun, and add other improvements.

Abyssus is the closest listed alternative, combining multiplayer shooting with roguelite levels, tactical play, and weapons that can be refitted with ancient technologies. Gunforged instead centers on run-by-run gun crafting, passive ability choices, three arenas, six bosses, and permanent upgrades purchased with extracted gold.
