Our take on Gun Beat
The focus on beat-timed shooting and bullet dodging keeps the controls to two buttons, but limits the scope for broader combat systems and complex input combinations. Its three modes stay centered on the same core mechanics rather than expanding into a larger campaign.
What is Gun Beat?
Gun Beat is a VR game that combines shooting with rhythm-based timing.
Players shoot at enemies on the beat and receive Perfect, Good, Bad, or Miss results based on timing accuracy. Physical movement is used to avoid incoming bullets. Actions build a combo, which can trigger Fever Time when the Grip button is pressed at the indicated moment. During Fever Time, the player becomes invincible and can score without following the beat. The game uses two controls: Trigger for shooting and Grip for activating Fever Time. It includes three modes: Tutorial, Infinity, and Stage.
How Gun Beat plays
- 01Beat-Based Shooting
- Shot timing receives a Perfect, Good, Bad, or Miss result based on its alignment with the beat.
- 02Bullet Evasion
- Players move their bodies to avoid incoming bullets.
- 03Fever Time
- Building a combo signals an opportunity to activate a temporary invincible state and score without following the beat.
- 04Three Game Modes
- The available modes are Tutorial, Infinity, and Stage.
Gun Beat compared to similar games
Gun Beat combines beat-matched shooting with physical bullet avoidance, while Intralism centers on matching arcs to the beat and includes beatmap creation and online multiplayer. The other listed games focus on third-person shooting, runner-shooter action, survival crafting, or a collection of classic platform games rather than rhythm-based combat.
