Our take on Guardians of Victoria
The chase-focused structure keeps movement and timing central, but it leaves less room for unhurried exploration, especially on hard difficulty where the pursuer moves faster. Character upgrades add progression, though the game remains organized around replaying individual platforming levels.
What is Guardians of Victoria?
Guardians of Victoria combines platforming, combat, exploration, and chase sequences in a steampunk city above the clouds.
Players guide three Guardians, each with a distinct platforming ability, fighting style, personality, and story across locations such as The Factory and Daylight Victoria. Levels allow movement in both directions and include indoor areas, secrets, environmental hazards, crane controls, fires, and gas leaks. Jack the Ripper pursues the player, moves faster at higher difficulties, and fires electric bolts. Fireflies provide shield protection against attacks and hazards. Collectables and takedowns grant skill points for improving speed, jumping, attack, and health. Levels use three difficulty ratings and timers, while an arena and tutorial cover combat and platforming.
