We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Roguelike fans who want dungeon layouts to change between runs
- Turn-based RPG players who prefer planning each individual move
- Loot-focused players who enjoy experimenting with altered equipment and combat effects
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a fixed dungeon layout may bounce off the procedurally changing floors.
- Players who prefer continuous real-time action may find the move-by-move pacing too deliberate.
- RPG players seeking a story-led adventure with named characters may find the dungeon-crawling scope narrow.
Our take on Gloomgrave
The bounce point arrives when a run resets around changing dungeon layouts. Players who want a fixed route or a continuously unfolding adventure may lose interest at the repeated cycle of exploration, looting, and turn-based encounters.
What is Gloomgrave?
Gloomgrave is a roguelike, turn-based dungeon crawler built around repeated exploration of changing underground floors.
Each run combines randomized layouts with handcrafted rooms and vaults. Players search for weapons, armor, wands, rings, potions, scrolls, and other equipment, with individual items able to appear blessed, enchanted, or worse. Magical glyphs add combat effects, including poison, fire, and paralysis for weapons, while some armor retaliates against attackers. Combat advances only when the player acts, allowing time to plan each move and respond to encounters. The overall objective is to fight through the dungeon, gather loot, and defeat the evil beneath it.
