Our take on Gearend
Rather than keeping platforming abilities fixed, Gearend ties movement and combat options to collected robot parts. Its non-linear facility exploration also departs from a strictly ordered level sequence, with the search for the site's past providing the journey's framing.
What is Gearend?
Gearend is a 2D action-platforming exploration game about Epsilon-98, a small robot also called Eps.
After being awakened by outside forces, Eps explores an abandoned robotics research facility to discover what happened to the site and its inhabitants. The facility is explored non-linearly, with capsules containing spare robot parts scattered through its remains. Collecting and equipping these parts adds abilities such as slashing, dashing, shooting, blocking, and flying, creating different options for movement and combat. Friendly robots encountered along the way may offer help. The game combines fast-paced platforming and fighting with exploration of a deteriorated research complex.
