Our take on GAME.exe
Its defining structure is a game nested inside a fictional 1999 computer: exploration of the operating system leads into the former owner's unfinished project, with both layers sharing the same low-color, pixelated horror presentation.
What is GAME.exe?
Set in 1999, GAME.
exe follows a young man who buys a used computer once owned by Oliver, a game developer who died months earlier. The machine contains Oliver's notes, files, and an unfinished build of his most ambitious project. Exploration takes place through an old operating-system interface, where the player can inspect the computer's contents and use its resources to remove unwanted files. Oliver's creations resist interference, turning the investigation into a confrontation. The outer interface and the embedded game share a retro computer aesthetic, with pixel-based visuals, limited colors, numerous easter eggs, and a horror atmosphere.
