Our take on Gadgeteer
Its defining structure is the combination of fixed puzzle challenges and unrestricted machine building, with both modes governed by physics rather than prescribed construction steps.
What is Gadgeteer?
This VR puzzler focuses on building chain-reaction devices governed by physics.
Its Puzzle Mode presents 60 challenges, with multiple possible designs for each. Maker Mode removes building limits but keeps physical laws in place. Puzzle Designer lets players make and upload original challenges, and Online Sharing offers community-created ones. Constructions can use roughly 100 devices that propel, collide with, rotate, or redirect objects. Four toolheads provide options for placing, duplicating, coloring, and removing parts. The game also adds forty extra devices based on Rube Goldberg-style contraptions.
How Gadgeteer plays

- 03Custom Puzzle Sharing
- Created puzzles can be uploaded online and combined with an unlimited supply of community-made challenges.
- 04Gadget-Based Machines
- About 100 gadgets can be combined into mechanisms that launch, bump, twist, and turn objects.
- 05Construction Toolheads
- Four toolheads provide operations including creating, cloning, painting, and destroying components.
