Good fit- Survival-horror players who want monster combat in an ancient manor
- Players who enjoy combining exploration, puzzles, item use, and crafting
- Fans of 90s-inspired action survival games who want a third-person perspective
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a strictly linear route may find the partially nonlinear exploration less directed.
- Those looking for a calm puzzle adventure may find the recurring fights with ghouls and other monsters too prominent.
- Players who prefer movement without stamina management may not enjoy running and jumping that consume stamina.
Our take on From Hell
The partially nonlinear map gives exploration room within the manor, but sacrifices the fixed progression of a strictly linear route. Players who prefer every location and discovery to arrive in a set order may find the investigation less directed.
What is From Hell?
Set in an ancient manor during the late 1960s, this third-person action survival horror game follows a search for a missing old friend who sent a letter asking for help.
Players explore a partially nonlinear map, collect and use weapons and items, and fight ghouls and other creatures from a mythical underworld. The game also includes item and ammunition crafting, puzzles, and secrets connected to the missing friend. Combat includes enemy weak spots and bone-specific damage, with headshots described as especially effective. Running and jumping consume stamina, while running allows higher jumps. A second interaction at a door kicks it open. The game draws inspiration from action survival games of the 90s and was developed with Unreal Engine 5.
How From Hell plays
- 01Partially nonlinear map
- The manor can be explored through a route that is not completely linear.
- 02Ammunition crafting
- The game includes crafting for powerful ammunition and other items.
- 03Weak-spot combat
- Enemies have per-bone damage and weak spots, including vulnerable areas around the head.
- 04Stamina-based movement
- Running and jumping drain stamina, while running increases jump height.
