Our take on Fritz 19 SE
Rather than presenting every computer opponent as a uniformly strong engine, the program models recognizable club-player habits and inserts tactical errors. Its training structure also turns opening databases and personal repertoires into direct practice positions.
What is Fritz 19 SE?
Fritz 19 SE is a chess program built around practice against six simulated club-player types: Allrounder, Aggressive, Positional, Swindler, Fearful, and Endgame Expert.
Each opponent follows characteristic plans and may make tactical errors, with mistakes becoming more likely in sharper positions. Players can use optional advice during games or switch to assisted calculation mode without a clock. Training includes calculation exercises focused on candidate moves, opening practice against databases, personal repertoires, and ChessBase Magazine opening articles, plus tactical analysis and annotated engine analysis. The program also includes a 2023 computer chess world champion engine, ChessBase cards awarded for attacks, combinations, or sacrifices, and an expanded interface and notation system.
