We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Idle RPG players who want settlement construction and resource accumulation
- Strategy players who enjoy matching armies against enemy weaknesses
- Incremental game fans who want dimension-based progression and randomized gear
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking continuously hands-on action rather than idle resource growth and preparation
- Players who want a compact campaign instead of progression across 13 maps and multiple dimensions
- Players looking for a purely combat-focused RPG without buildings, workers, perks, or resource management
Our take on Feartress
The settlement, resource, perk, equipment, and army systems make progression broad, but that breadth trades away a tightly focused combat loop. Much of the game’s structure depends on accumulating resources and preparing units before sending them into battle.
What is Feartress?
Feartress combines idle RPG progression with settlement building and strategic battles.
Gather resources, construct and improve buildings, hire workers, and train more than 25 friendly unit types. Send armies against enemies, exploit their weaknesses, destroy structures, and collect loot across 13 maps. Generate knowledge to unlock more than 100 perks, while additional perk books introduce different gameplay options. Randomly generated equipment can improve production and combat and remains available when moving into new dimensions. The story follows a bodiless soul investigating an elemental corruption with help from a long-necked kitten. Rebirth carries the journey into other dimensions, where the goal is to collect 21 elemental pearls and eliminate the corruption’s source.
