Is Factor Y worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Factory automation fans who want production spanning multiple planets
- Strategy players interested in designing custom buildings and modules
- Simulation players who want graphs for tracking factory output
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking direct combat or military strategy rather than production management
- Players who prefer short, fixed scenarios over gradual factory expansion and research
- Players looking for a puzzle, game-studio, or emergency-response simulation
Our take on Factor Y
The modular approach offers room to create custom production blocks, but it also calls for planning across mining, processing, research, and interplanetary resource transfers. That breadth may not suit players looking for a narrowly focused factory-building task.
What is Factor Y?
Factor Y is a factory automation game focused on mining, processing, crafting, research, and expansion across multiple planets.
Miners, arms, belts, furnaces, and assemblers move resources through production. Research unlocks technologies and structures, increases factory throughput and size, and provides buffs affecting factories across planets. A planner lets players create blueprints and turn them into custom modules that support recipes, including modules built from earlier designs. New planets can be colonized, with resources transferred between their factories. The game records placed structures and produced items in graphs. Plugins add behaviors such as item filtering and throughput limits. The demo includes the full feature set except the ability to load saved games.
How Factor Y plays
- 01Multi-planet expansion
- Factories can be connected by colonizing additional worlds and moving resources between them.
- 02Custom factory modules
- A planning system converts blueprints into reusable building blocks that can support recipes.
- 03Production tracking
- Graphs show information about every structure placed and item produced in the factory.
- 04Research progression
- Technology unlocks structures and buffs for factories across planets, while increasing throughput and factory size.
- 05Structure plugins
- Plugins can add behaviors including item filtering and throughput restrictions.
Factor Y compared to similar games
Creeper World 4 is a real-time strategy game in which waves of Creeper move across 3D terrain, while Factor Y focuses on automated production, custom modules, and resource transfers between planets. Mad Games Tycoon centers on developing games, forming a team, researching technologies, training staff, and upgrading offices rather than constructing resource-processing factories.
