Our take on Escape: Malice
The store presentation foregrounds supernatural atmosphere and a multi-era mystery, but every session requires exactly two players. That structural constraint narrows the audience more sharply than the horror-adventure framing suggests.
What is Escape: Malice?
Escape: Malice is a horror puzzle adventure for exactly two players.
After an earthquake opens a sinkhole beneath a temple in modern-day Japan, two travellers fall into darkness and reach a haunted mansion. The pair explores the ancient building, investigates its inhabitants, and works through logical, lateral-thinking, decryption, and maze-based puzzles. Cooperation and communication are central to progression, with challenges shaped around two-player play. The story spans three chapters and multiple eras, moving through locations in an Edo-era settlement before reaching another dimension. Hand-drawn cutscenes and character interactions reveal the mansion’s history and secrets, while hostile inhabitants and a supernatural setting create pressure during exploration.
