Our take on Envious
The two-character structure makes communication central to cooperative play, but it also creates a practical requirement: both participants need their own copy and a way to exchange observations while exploring separate houses.
What is Envious?
Envious is a horror puzzle game with solo and cooperative play.
Players choose Xavier, trapped in a mysterious house, or Xandra, who investigates an old house connected to his situation. Xavier searches rooms and corridors for clues while trying to escape, whereas Xandra explores the other location to uncover information that can aid him. The two perspectives connect past events with the present through observation, communication, and puzzle solving.
Each room contains clues or puzzle elements, making thorough exploration part of the progression. Cooperative play requires both participants to own the game and have a way to communicate. The game can also be played individually, with the player investigating the house, interpreting discoveries, and solving mysteries that stand between the character and freedom.
How Envious plays
- 01Two Character Roles
- Xavier works toward escape from one house while Xandra searches another location for related clues.
- 02Linked House Exploration
- Information from separate environments connects earlier events with the current situation.
- 03Cooperative Puzzle Play
- Two participants can coordinate observations and discoveries, with each person needing a game copy and a communication method.
