Our take on 能量冲击 Energy Shock
Every attack card also moves the character forward, so dealing damage can mean stepping into an enemy's range.
What is 能量冲击 Energy Shock?
Energy Shock blends action combat with roguelike elements, using turns and cards for both attacks and movement.
Playing an attack card advances the character toward foes, which can bring them into striking distance. Damage changes according to the gap between combatants, and some attacks work only at particular distances. Each card played ends the round, so the order of moves and maintaining distance shape combat decisions. The game includes more than 80 attack cards and over 30 skill cards.
Three characters are available, each with individual skills that can affect foes or draw them closer to an attack. Maps are generated randomly, and items available for purchase during a run can strengthen the deck. The backpack holds 6 items, limiting how many can be carried.
How 能量冲击 Energy Shock plays
- 01Movement-linked attacks
- Attack cards move the character forward, with damage changing according to distance from the target.
- 02Character skills
- Each of the 3 available characters has distinct skills that can alter enemy positions or create attack opportunities.
- 03Randomized maps
- Map layouts change between runs, and the monsters encountered are tied to the game world.
- 04Limited item storage
- A 6-space backpack means purchased items must be chosen selectively.

Shogun Showdown also uses turn-based positioning and deck-building, but its description focuses on upgrading attack tiles and combining them into combos before facing the Shogun. Energy Shock ties card attacks to forward movement and distance-based damage, and includes character skills and purchasable items. Men of War: Assault Squad centers on commanding units in a World War II setting rather than card-based, movement-linked attacks.
