Is Empire worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Final Fantasy fans who want a traditional turn-based story RPG
- Players who prefer multi-character campaigns with personal sidequests
- RPG players who enjoy exploring lore, collecting equipment, and completing optional content
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking real-time combat may bounce off the turn-based battle system
- Players wanting a short, tightly focused campaign may find the 20–30-hour story and additional sidequests too long
- Players looking for roguelike runs, deck building, or repeated combat encounters may not find those structures here
Our take on Empire
Players seeking immediate action may hit a wall when battles require turn-based commands, combos, and skills. Those expecting a compact campaign may also bounce when the 20–30-hour story expands through sidequests, character-specific content, collection, and lore tracking.
What is Empire?
Play seven characters in a fantasy RPG set during a war, with each character having an individual storyline, sidequests, equipment, and skills.
The game offers 20–30 hours of gameplay plus additional sidequests. Battles use a traditional turn-based system with combos and skills. The setting includes characters, cultures, kingdoms, history, and religion, while the story follows conflicts between warring kingdoms and mysteries surrounding a growing darkness. Exploration includes finding hidden items and equipment, along with completing a database covering the world’s characters, environments, and stories. A dating sidequest, similar to one from Final Fantasy 7, is also included.

Empire compared to similar games
Back to the Dawn is an RPG about investigating crime and escaping a maximum-security prison, while Empire follows seven characters through a war-centered fantasy story with individual equipment, skills, and sidequests. Shogun Showdown focuses on turn-based positioning, attack tiles, skill selection, deck building, and roguelike progression; Empire instead emphasizes a longer narrative campaign, world lore, and multiple character storylines.
