Our take on Elemental Exiles
The prominent 12-character count needs context: only 4 heroes are available at the beginning, while the other 8 are hidden in the world. The large map also retains routes and selected boss locations, but most encounters change between playthroughs.
What is Elemental Exiles?
Elemental Exiles combines role-playing, deckbuilding, and roguelike exploration.
Choose from 12 heroes, each with a separate starting point, initial deck, and personal quest; 4 are available immediately, while 8 must be found. Travel across a map containing more than 200 locations, with routes and some boss locations retained between playthroughs. Battles include over 300 scenarios, while narrative encounters can alter a deck through rewards, penalties, and choices. Cards have conditional effects based on play order or elemental combinations, and Fire, Water, and Nature interact through strengths and weaknesses. Cards lose durability with use, requiring repeated deck changes. Inns let characters spend gold on cards, items, and blessings, while battles can provide further card additions.
