Our take on Eight
The mansion mystery is framed as a horror experience, but its scope is notably limited: development lasted one month, the project was an experiment in methodology, and no post-release updates are planned.
What is Eight?
Eight is a short horror game set in a traditional mansion.
The player takes the role of a new homeowner visiting the property after work, following a realtor’s advice to inspect areas that may need renovation. Exploration reveals information about the house and the people who lived there before. The narrative is conveyed through the surroundings, objects, music, voice acting, and audio events. Players can interact with lights, doors, and other items while investigating the building. The game was developed by two people over one month as an experiment in their development process. It uses Unreal Engine 4, The Horror Engine, and the Classical Mansion Asset Pack. The developers state that it will not receive updates after release.
