Our take on e-River Cabin Journal
The main bounce point is the real-time task system: activities can take hours or days, so players expecting to complete a survival loop in one sitting may stall while waiting for the next journal entry.
What is e-River Cabin Journal?
This diary-driven survival strategy game places the player in a cabin in the Alaskan wilderness.
Choose a location, then plan routines around gold panning, fishing, hunting, trapping, tree felling, cooking, foraging, crafting, building, and vehicle repair. Tasks take real time to complete, with results reported through a cabin task journal and new daily diary entries. A Fast Forward option can complete up to 12 tasks per day. Fate Cards introduce positive or negative incidents while pursuing objectives.
Survival concerns include starvation, animal attacks, injuries, weather, fires, floods, and avalanches. Trading with NPCs and other players uses a code system that does not require players to be online together. Cabin additions include a Smoke House, Geology Room, Gun Room, Rod Room, Potting Shed, and other self-sufficiency equipment.
