Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed level layout may find the changing environments and encounters a poor match.
- Those who prefer slower-paced exploration may find the focus on surviving enemies and escaping each level too urgent.
- Players looking for a story-led adventure centered on dialogue and character relationships may prefer a different structure.
Our take on Dungeon Souls
The run-based design puts changing dungeons and combat at the center, leaving less room for a fixed route through familiar levels. Players who value predictable layouts may find that repeated exploration comes with less spatial continuity.
What is Dungeon Souls?
Dungeon Souls takes cues from Nuclear Throne, Risk of Rain, and Overture.
Players make repeated journeys through dungeons whose layouts, settings, and encounters are generated anew. In each level, they locate and activate every mark to open a portal and escape the Redeemer. They gather items and upgrades while fighting groups of enemies and bosses. The game includes 10 characters with different abilities, environments such as dark dungeons, sewers, and cathedrals, and permanent skill improvements for character progression. More than 50 passive items offer effects including increased speed, greater damage, and lifesteal. Its run-based play brings together exploration, combat, item gathering, and character development.
