Our take on Dungeon Rats
Dungeon Rats shifts the focus from a lone protagonist to squad-level combat, with positioning and party composition shaping encounters. Recruitment also comes with a trade-off: skill points are shared across party members, so adding allies means fewer points per character and slower level-ups.
What is Dungeon Rats?
Dungeon Rats is a tactical RPG in the Age of Decadence setting where battles proceed by turns and involve a group of characters.
The player starts imprisoned in a mine controlled by gangs, fighting to stay alive while improving combat abilities and gathering weapons and gear. Companions may be recruited, or the protagonist may act alone. Battles feature ordinary strikes, attacks directed at body parts, weapon-based techniques, flanking advantages, and pre-battle positioning. Crafting and alchemy allow weapon forging and the creation of potions, poisons, Liquid Fire, and Black Powder.
The protagonist can be customized, with 10 potential companions and parties capped at 4. Charisma influences allies, while skill points are shared across the group. There are 50 battles, 4 endings, and 3 difficulty settings.
