Our take on Dread of Laughter
Players who need every objective to be beneficial may hit the main wall when a choice can strengthen the killer. The game makes uncertainty part of progression, so treating each task as a straightforward checklist can turn the objective system into the point of departure.
What is Dread of Laughter?
Dread of Laughter is a first-person survival horror game following Catheryn Barnett, whose car breaks down while she is traveling through rural Mississippi to meet a business associate.
She heads through a forest toward the nearest town, then discovers that she is being hunted. Players explore an isolated farm, uncover its brutal truth, and attempt to reach safety while something stalks their movements. The game centers on decisions: objectives can support survival or make the pursuing killer stronger. Each objective presents a risk, leaving the choice of what to pursue with the player. The main structure combines exploration, threat avoidance, investigation, and an escape objective within a horror scenario.
