Our take on DragonLoop
The five-day loop makes route choice part of exploration, but it also puts a time limit on how Xi moves through the world. Players looking for an open-ended, unstructured pace may find that constraint central to the experience.
What is DragonLoop?
DragonLoop is a 2D metroidvania in which Xi explores a hand-drawn world during a five-day time loop, searching for her missing memories alongside her companion, Ouro.
Time changes the terrain and can open different worldlines, while a map supports route planning. Combat combines Xi’s strength with Ouro’s agility and uses an X-Rating that can raise speed and combat power; enemies do not cause contact damage. Defeating bosses yields summonable spirits. Explosive spirits and persistent companion spirits can be upgraded and evolved. Pearls provide tools for both traversal and combat, including a pufferfish, magnetic boxes, and a whale spirit. The loop is not a roguelike reset: players do not start from scratch.
