Our take on Doomsday Room
The game focuses on national policy and geopolitical choices rather than direct battlefield control. That design trades tactical combat for council-level decisions, political maneuvering, and managing the effects of shifting events across repeated playthroughs.
What is Doomsday Room?
Set in a fictional Cold War beginning in 1947, Doomsday Room places the player as Borealia’s representative in a council of seven nations.
In this turn-based, single-player simulation, decisions about different scenarios affect global stability while also needing to respect the president’s and country’s desires. Players can pursue a space program, stockpile nuclear warheads, influence rival nations through conflict, sign mutual-interest agreements, plan coups, or assist government takeovers. Random world events, random national events, and mini secret-service scenarios change the circumstances across playthroughs. A Defcon system tracks nuclear tension, while a World Factbook describes the game’s fictional universe. Possible objectives include preventing nuclear war for forty months, reaching a manned space station first, or seeking nuclear domination.
