Our take on DEDA
Rather than treating horror as a sequence of jump scares, DEDA makes the house itself the main source of danger. Its difficulty settings alter the atmosphere and hazards, while two-handed interactions replace simple object tapping with more deliberate problem solving.
What is DEDA?
Escape a house where a deranged grandfather has imprisoned the player.
DEDA presents a small-scale horror experience built around oppressive surroundings and concealed clues rather than relying mainly on jump scares. Three difficulty levels change the house’s atmosphere: the light setting offers limited signs of danger, normal mode alters the lighting and environment, and high mode makes the house hostile, with the lantern itself becoming dangerous. Actions require coordinated use of both hands, adding interaction beyond repeatedly tapping objects and bringing a stealth-game quality to problem solving. The family’s history, the grandfather’s madness, and the house’s secrets emerge through subtle environmental details. Players assemble these clues, communicate with one another, and form theories while searching for a way out.
How DEDA plays
- 01Three Atmosphere Modes
- Light, normal, and high settings progressively change the house’s lighting, surroundings, and dangers.
- 02Two-Handed Interactions
- Problem solving involves coordinating both hands to discover different ways of interacting with objects.
- 03Environmental Storytelling
- Details throughout the house reveal the family history, the nature of the madness, and its hidden mysteries.
