Good fit- VR horror players who want survival to center on evasion rather than fighting
- Players who enjoy exploring confined settings for story clues
- Horror fans interested in wheelchair-based movement and environmental hazards
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want to fight enemies directly may hit a wall because the protagonist cannot defend themselves.
- Players who want to move and attack at the same time may find the two-handed wheelchair controls restrictive.
- Players looking for a non-VR game will not find a fit here.
Our take on Deadness
Players who expect to defend themselves may hit the wall as soon as a creature closes in: the protagonist cannot shoot while moving, and survival depends on evasion or distraction. The two-handed wheelchair controls also make movement and combat a constrained pairing.
What is Deadness?
Deadness is a VR horror game set in a decaying research facility.
The protagonist wakes there alone, confined to a wheelchair and unable to defend themselves. Movement uses both hands to control the wheelchair, and the player cannot shoot while moving. Survival relies on avoiding creatures by staying out of their sight or distracting them. The facility includes obstacles such as unstable planks, swinging corpses and corridors filled with screaming limbs. Players explore the rooms and corridors while listening for threats and searching for audio tapes. These recordings reveal information about the facility, the nightmare and the protagonist’s identity. The game uses wheelchair-based VR movement as part of its survival and exploration systems.
