Our take on Dead Dreams
Dead Dreams departs from a straightforward horror structure by making its puzzles, creatures, and other story elements expressions of character fears and dreams. It also replaces a single linear viewpoint with a multi-character narrative that revisits a shared tragedy.
What is Dead Dreams?
Dead Dreams is a 2D psychological horror game centered on puzzles, atmosphere, and a complex story told out of order.
After a member of a four-person school game development club dies, the remaining friends are drawn back into memories of the event and its effects on their lives. The game uses multiple characters and connects its puzzles, creatures, and other story elements to their fears and dreams. It includes more than 35 disturbing creature designs and fully animated cutscenes. Its atmosphere, sound design, and story take inspiration from the Silent Hill series. A playthrough lasts 5–8 hours. Arrow keys control movement, while Space, Z, or Enter examine objects and advance text.
