Our take on D.A.M. Champion
Rather than centering a straightforward young hero’s rise, the game makes monster-copying technology and personal values part of its dystopian setting. Its non-linear structure also replaces the more direct progression commonly associated with monster-taming adventures.
What is D.A.M. Champion?
Enter a darkly comic, dystopian RPG where technology produces and controls artificial versions of wild creatures.
The non-linear adventure moves through varied environments and lets travel shape a tamer’s growth, personal ideals, and eventual identity as a Champion. Combat uses turn-based encounters with groups of three or larger, drawing from 14 creature categories, 120 monsters, 31 abilities, and more than 170 attacks. Individual monster attributes can be adjusted, while three difficulty options alter the main boss fights. The game offers several save slots, music composed by Plastov, and creature illustrations from Hikoku. Its visual and television influences come from the GBA and GBA SP era. Dark humor and mature subject matter place it beyond a young-child audience.
