Our take on Cylne
Its defining structure is a set of six symbolic chapters that can be entered in any order, with the fifth chapter requiring an overall view of the journey. The game leaves narrative connections open rather than presenting a clear story.
What is Cylne?
Cylne is a first-person surreal exploration game structured as a collection of visual poems.
Players can enter six chapters, including one optional chapter inspired by the Prometheus myth, and investigate environments ranging from ancient architecture to broad abstract landscapes. Progress toward the fifth chapter, “The Choice,” requires an overall understanding of the other chapters. Environmental enigmas rely on observing, listening, sensing, and discovering. Movement includes walking, floating, gliding, and some platforming. A dark halo surrounds the avatar and provides feedback that may guide or unsettle exploration. The game uses symbolic chapters, unusual cutscenes, strange life forms, and a fragmented presentation without a clear narrative. It contains flashing and bright lights that may not suit people with photosensitive epilepsy.
