Our take on Cube & Star: An Arbitrary Love
The game trades conventional structure for open-ended experimentation: activities revolve around altering, observing, and interpreting an unusual world rather than following a tightly directed sequence of missions. That freedom may make repeated sessions feel aimless.
What is Cube & Star: An Arbitrary Love?
Explore a surreal open world centered on creating life, changing the environment, and finding meaning in a strange landscape.
Eat fruit, nudge trees, stain the ground, discover relics, collect unusual tokens, and read journal entries left by other cubes. The world changes as day and night pass, grass grows, rain falls, trees shed fruit, and stars drop from the sky. Spindle, Perspective, and Data views offer different ways to observe this world. Players can decipher the language of the Tiny Things, seek lost voices, revive long-dead creatures, and raise structures. Color can spread across the landscape, while fire can reduce parts of it to ash. The central task is to reunite the Ancient Cube and Star. The game is DRM-free.
