Corpse of Discovery is a first-person walking simulator set across six unexplored alien planets.
The player wakes at a base with a destroyed landing craft and scattered equipment, then completes missions for the Corps of Discovery while trying to return home. Exploration involves examining environments, learning about new lifeforms, appreciating history, and reliving memories. The planets present hazards including solar radiation, powerful wind storms, lava oceans, intense heat, and floating islands reachable by jetpack. AVA, an AssistBot, accompanies the player and reinforces the character’s importance to the Corps. The narrative considers family, parenthood, marriage, employment, expectations, disappointment, self-discovery, and the consequences of personal choices, with humor and old-school science-fiction references.
