Our take on Close Order
The bounce point arrives when fleet growth becomes central to survival. Players who prefer controlling one ship without managing surrounding minions may lose interest as combat shifts from direct shooting toward assembling and positioning an armada.
What is Close Order?
Close Order is an arcade shooter in which enemy defeats provide parts for constructing allied ships, called minions.
These ships gather around the player’s vessel and increase its firepower. The fleet can be arranged around the central ship, supporting ranged attacks, direct charges, or mixed tactics. Story mode presents a short episodic narrative about the remnants of humanity after Earth, delivered through connected hub worlds and missions. Survival mode begins with a single ship and requires fleet growth during combat. Simple Survival uses prepared enemy waves that become stronger over time, while Custom Chaos allows selection of the level, enemy types, enemy difficulty, and enemy quantity.
How Close Order plays
- 01Fleet Construction
- Enemy drops provide components that can be combined into companion ships and arranged around the main vessel.
- 02Episodic Story
- Missions unfold through linked hub areas while revealing what happened to humanity after Earth.
- 03Custom Survival
- Players can set the stage, enemy categories, difficulty, and number of opponents before starting a run.
- 04Prepared Enemy Waves
- Simple Survival uses preset waves whose opponents grow stronger as the level continues.
Close Order compared to similar games
Close Order combines arcade shooting with fleet assembly, episodic missions, and several survival formats, including customizable enemy setups. Abyssus focuses on multiplayer shooting through hand-crafted levels in a roguelite structure, with weapon refitting rather than constructing an armada.
